Last day of section one: summited Mt Kosciuszko, raced to Dead Horse Gap, and was met by Jane — hugs, kisses, and a perfect zero day ahead.

Off-track through the Rolling Grounds, then the Main Range for epic peaks and glacial lakes — 26km testing body, mind, and gear to Muellers Pass.

Over streams, bush-bashing tracks, Valentine Falls, slip-ups, and 18.5km of rugged wilderness before pitching at Whites River Hut for fire, food, and rest.

27km to Grey Mare Hut: Mt Jagungal summit, dense bush, 360° views, and a night by the fire with fellow hikers sharing stories and warmth.

Long, tough 32km day across grey hills, arriving at Mackay’s Hut with legs throbbing, ready to bathe and refuel for tomorrow’s shorter trek.

Reunited with Jane at Kiandra for my first food drop — fresh meals, gear, hugs, and a few tears before hitting the trail again.
