Day 19 hiking the Australian Alps Walking Track solo

A blissful zero day at Glen Wills—pancakes, pizza, crackling fire and falling asleep in my wife’s arms to Melissa Etheridge.

Glen Wills (0km)  |  TOTAL – 395.6km

I spent a glorious zero day at the beautifully rustic Glen Wills Wilderness Retreat alongside my wife.

Jane whipped up beautiful pancakes for breakfast, followed by scones for morning tea. It was our Easter weekend after all.

We stoked the combustion heater and spent the afternoon drying our load full of washing, including all my dirty hiking gear.

While Jane was on washing duty, I sorted through my final three food drops, re-sorted my pack and whipped up some pizza bases.

The afternoon sun made an appearance and so we enjoyed a couple of yummy ales on the long balcony before using the wood-fired pizza oven to cook our pizzas.

After dinner, we chilled by the fire then headed to bed for an early night, holding each other as the familiar tunes of Melissa Etheridge lulled us off to sleep.
